Why Do People Choose A Certain Job or Calling?

This assignment should help you in your understanding of a possible future career, either in this field or another field.

1. Choose an adult to interview that has a job you are interested in learning more about. It should be related to either Graphic Design or another art-related field.  Ask them if you can have  about 1/2 hour of their time to discuss their career choice.  Set up an appointment.  If you have a recording device  and/or camera you can bring this to the interview.  You can also set up time on the computer to conduct your interview.

2. Ask the following questions.  Either turn on a recording device, the computer,  text or have a paper and pencil ready to write down the answers to the following questions.

a) What made you want to choose this career?

b)  What training did you take?

c)  What do you think are the three best schools to study this career?

d)  What would you recommend to young people interested in this field?

e)  What words of wisdom do you have for someone like myself interested in studying this field?

f)  Is there anything else you would like to tell me about your work?

Personal Career Questions

1. What do I want to be?

2.  What do I feel called to be?

3.  How do I want to serve my society?

4.  Am I a people person or someone who likes to work alone, or do I like both?

After answering  these questions, summarize your findings and state your conclusions.
